Marc Henry explores the malleability of reality in the post-factual age through painting shaped by digital manipulation, where images become sites of projection, distortion, and unstable truth.
Informed by a background in fine arts, economics, and curatorial studies, his practice reflects on societal dynamics, politics, and macroeconomic conditions as forces that structure perception and lived experience within our post-factual condition.
Drawing from personal archives, niche image boards, and 3D-rendered source material, he develops compositions that merge speculative narration with experimental iconography, expanding the historical language of painting. Moving rhythmically between analogue and digital processes, Henry’s works produce pseudo-narratives in which fabricated memory and mediated imagery become inseparable.
Marc Henry (*1996 in Munich, Germany; lives and works in Vienna) earned a B.Sc. in Economics from LMU Munich and an M.A. in Curating from University of Applied Arts Vienna, before he graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under the professorship of Daniel Richter.
His work has been shown at Neuer Aachener Kunstverein NAK (upcoming), Kunstverein Rosa Luxemburgplatz (Berlin), MMIII Kunstverein (Mönchengladbach), Schloßmuseum (Murnau), Kunsthalle Oktogon (Dresden), Palais Rasumofsky (Vienna) and the Belvedere21 Museum (Vienna) amongst others.
